Barb Pender will be working her magic in the kitchen, preparing a family favourite — Cowichan Curried Chicken, served with rice, broccoli, cauliflower, and a comforting dessert. Dinner tickets are just $28, including tax!

Dance the night away with Hal and the Harmonics, featuring Howard Southwell, Lawrence Mayer, Rick McMullen, and Annette Cyr. Enjoy favourite hits from The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Alanis Morissette, Janis Joplin, and more!

Do you have a favorite family recipe you’d love to cook and share with 50 of your closest friends?

The Pender Island Royal Canadian Legion Branch 239 is looking for volunteer cooks to bring their unique style and flavours to our popular Friday Night Dinners. Whether it’s a cherished family classic or a creative new dish, this is your chance to showcase your cooking and be part of a great community tradition.

You won’t be doing it alone. Our friendly and capable team of volunteers will be there to support you every step of the way, from prep to service, making it a fun and rewarding experience.

Celebration of Life for Jean Deschenes

Celebration of Life – Jean Deschenes

The Pender Island Legion is saddened by the passing of our friend and Past President Jean Deschenes, who died at home on September 4 at the age of 71.

Jean was a dedicated member of our Legion family and served for four years as President, guiding the Branch through some particularly challenging years. Her commitment to the Legion and the Pender Island community, as well as the friendships she made along the way, will be remembered with great affection.

A Celebration of Life for Jean will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pender Island Legion, Branch 239.

Friends, family, Legion members, and members of the community are warmly invited to join us as we remember Jean and celebrate her life and legacy.

Doug Pirie Memorial Candlelight Service

On Tuesday, November 10th at 1:00pm, the community will gather at the Pender Island Cemetery for a moving tribute of remembrance. Each year, Pender Island school children arrive by bus to quietly and respectfully place candles on the more than 125 crosses that honour our veterans—those who stood for Canada in times of war and peace.

Around 5:00pm, as daylight begins to fade and dusk settles in, the candles on each cross will be lit, casting a gentle glow across the cemetery in silent gratitude. The public is warmly invited to visit, pause, and reflect during this peaceful moment of remembrance. In the distance, the haunting notes of a lone piper will drift through the evening air, reminding us of the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who came before us.
