FRIDAY NIGHT DINNERS

June Burger Nights

Summer Friday nights are heating up at the Pender Island Legion!

Join us on June 5th and June 19th from 5:00–7:00 PM for a fun and relaxed evening of deluxe BBQ burgers, live music, and great community company.

Come hungry — these are fully loaded burgers! Choose from beef, chicken, salmon, or veggie, then top it off with your choice of cheese, fried onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a variety of condiments. Each burger comes with your choice of potato salad, chips, or coleslaw. Not in the mood for a burger? Hot dogs will be on the grill too!

Enjoy live entertainment by Herb Keim on June 5th and Bill Heintz on June 19th. We’ll be set up outside on the patio, weather permitting — and if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll simply move indoors, but the burgers will still be happening! No reservations required. Burgers are $20 dine-in or $17 take-out.

Doug Pirie Memorial Candlelight Service

On Tuesday, November 10th at 1:00pm, the community will gather at the Pender Island Cemetery for a moving tribute of remembrance. Each year, Pender Island school children arrive by bus to quietly and respectfully place candles on the more than 125 crosses that honour our veterans—those who stood for Canada in times of war and peace.

Around 5:00pm, as daylight begins to fade and dusk settles in, the candles on each cross will be lit, casting a gentle glow across the cemetery in silent gratitude. The public is warmly invited to visit, pause, and reflect during this peaceful moment of remembrance. In the distance, the haunting notes of a lone piper will drift through the evening air, reminding us of the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who came before us.
